Week 5: Waterproofing complete

Waterproofing (tar/bitumen layer, weeping tiles, membrane and 24" of gravel on the exterior weepers) was completed by the guys from Rock. We wait another week and then backfill!

Week 31: Sanding in the hot and cold

The tapers struggled a little with the heat. The house is so well insulated, that this little heater in the furnace room is keeping the whole house warm. Warm enough to work... but the upstairs tape is taking a little longer to dry. It's no wonder that the tapers love working in the nice cozy basement!

Week 8: Water and sanitary upgrade

The city contractor, CoXCo was in this past week to work on the sanitary and water upgrade. With a lot of back and forth and consultation, we managed to pick a spot where we could get the proper slope on the sanitary line while still fitting under the house footings. I'm glad Hanif and Agnes listened to my advice on going for an 8' basement... if they hadn't, they would require a sewage ejector (ew) and their sump would run 24x7!

Week 33: The utility room

The utility room was a focus today. Even though Enbridge continues to give us the run-around on getting the service installed (they are increasingly more difficult to deal with these days), we had the guys from Radiant Sole in to set up the floor heat distribution system as well as to get the combi boiler installed. Kevin fixed up the electrical panel, making some more work circuits and lights live in the house. Marsh's was in on Tuesday to install the fireplace... kind of head scratching why they didn't follow the base, but we rectified that in short order. lol
